Hey, I’m Ravi. Together with my brother Jay, I co-founded Fireside. Growing up, Jay and I didn’t always tune in when our parents shared stories from back home in India. Maybe it was just the rebellious phase or the busy life of typical American kids, but we didn’t fully grasp the value of those stories. As we got older and moved away for college and jobs, we started to see things differently. We began to crave those missed stories and understandings of our parents’ lives.
Our parents made a bold move from India to America, bringing along their dreams and hardships that, honestly, we took for granted as kids. When Jay had his daughter, and that really hit home for both of us. We didn't want her—or any of our future kids—to miss out on knowing where they came from. She deserved to hear about her heritage directly from her grandparents, in their own voices.
That’s where the idea for Fireside came in. We wanted to create a simple tool that could capture these invaluable narratives—a way for our folks to just hit record and start sharing and having a keepsake of it to remember. It’s about saving those life stories, big laughs, and little details that paint the full picture of of our loved ones.
Fireside is really about keeping that line open between generations, no matter where you live or how busy you get. It's for making sure the important stuff—like your grandma’s voice or your dad’s laughter—doesn’t just fade away.
Thanks for checking us out and hopefully, you’ll find Fireside as useful for connecting with your family as we have with ours.
